Resolving Bullying That Persists

When bullying continues despite discipline, mediation, or repeated conversations, schools often feel stuck. Peer conflict now frequently extends beyond the classroom into group chats, gaming platforms, and social media, making situations harder to resolve through traditional approaches alone.

Solution Team® is a structured, educator-led approach that helps schools resolve ongoing bullying and cyberbullying by guiding students to take responsibility for ending harm under adult supervision. Used by schools worldwide, the approach provides a practical way to address serious incidents without relying on punishment alone.

What Is Solution Team?

A Solution Team is a structured, staff-led response used when bullying or peer conflict requires focused intervention from the school. It gives educators a dependable way to respond when prevention alone has not been enough.

Rather than focusing on blame or punishment, the school brings together a small group of students and engages their sense of fairness and responsibility to help end the bullying of a peer. The process is facilitated by trained staff such as counselors, deans, teachers, or school leaders, with adults remaining firmly in charge throughout. Students are guided to become part of the solution rather than passive observers.

Solution Team is an essential part of an effective bullying prevention program, providing schools with a reliable response when prevention alone is not enough.

How Solution Team Works

When bullying does not resolve through everyday classroom strategies, educators begin by listening carefully to the targeted student and ensuring they feel supported. A small group of students is then thoughtfully selected and brought together by a trained facilitator. Through guided conversation, the facilitator activates students’ empathy and sense of fairness, helping them agree on specific actions they will take to improve the situation.

School staff continue to follow up over time to ensure that the bullying and cyberbullying have ended and that peer relationships have improved. The process remains educator-led at every stage, providing structure, accountability, and safety for all students involved.
