We are proud to announce the first book in this series which is called “The Little Book of Character Strengths” by June Rousso, Ph.D. In this beautifully illustrated children’s book, the author writes a poem based on the 24 character strengths from the VIA Classification of Character Strengths. According to VIA, “research reveals that people who use their strengths every day are 3x more likely to report having an excellent quality of life.” These 24 universal character strengths are outlined throughout this magical book, giving the reader a clear understanding of each strength (kindness, honesty, perseverance, etc).
The author is thrilled to be featured this month and stated “The No Bully book club is a wonderful resource offering strategies to counter bullying. We are facing bullying not only in schools, but in cyberspace, making it more important than ever to give parents, teachers, and children the tools they need to address bullying. The Little Book of Character Strengths teaches children to rely on these strengths to guide their behavior and be sensitive to the needs of others. “Social Intelligence is being aware of what others may think and feel and counting these thoughts and feelings as very real. It’s making decisions taking in another’s point of view and not just counting the view of you.”
“Kindness is going out of your way, saying good morning and have a good day. It’s holding a door for a person you don’t know, or cheering someone up when they feel low.”
